Sealing | Waterproofing
The company’s engineers will provide a solution to your every problem. The works are supervised by engineers specialized in the field of insulations and in combination with our highly qualified workshops we guarantee the even and long-term result of our works. All works are accompanied by a written guarantee of the company with the prestige and reliability of 40 years in the field of insulation.
The application of waterproofing and waterproofing works refer to:

- Balconies
- Underground| Foundations| Details| Facades
- Metal roofs
- Tile roofs
- Planters
- Parking spaces
- Swimming pools Tanks
- Roof gardens
- Channels
The following are questions-answers on the subject of waterproofing – waterproofing, regarding the correct formation of opinion according to our own opinion and experience:
- What waterproofing systems are there?
A series of solutions – materials related to surface waterproofing are:
- SBS/APP bitumen
- Asphalt emulsions
- Spreadable acrylic/PU elastomer sealants
- Cement-based coatings
- Asphalt membranes for tiled roofs
- Drainage membranes (HDPE)
- Joint sealants
- PVC/TPE/TPO films
- Which waterproofing system is right for my problem?
As is obvious, each problem requires special handling and a suitable solution that can only be done with an autopsy by a qualified engineer. A general principle that applies in Greece due to the climatic conditions and the existing constructions that we usually encounter is that the largest range of problems are dealt with by the use of bituminous materials. Of course, as far as basements or foundations are concerned, equally reliable and easy to apply are cementitious materials with the parallel use of drainage membranes.
- Roof| Rooftop, what do I choose?
Regarding conventional existing constructions in Greece, the preferred solutions are asphalt cloths and spreadable elastomeric sealants. In the majority of the problems that we encounter every day, the solution is the tarmac as the slopes that have been given are not sufficient and we have stagnant water, even in spots. Our experience has led us to choose asphalt cloths as stagnant water causes the spreaders to fail (chalking). The use of asphalt pavers even on surfaces that are not perfectly smooth and have imperfections can ensure the prevention of water ingress.
- What tarmac should I choose?
Asphalt pavements are divided into two categories (SBS/APP), in various weights (kg/m 2 ) and with different coatings. These three characteristics define their quality as well as their price. Also, as important as their quality is, so is their method of application and attention to detail. As is known, their placement is done with a flamethrower, after the surface is first primed with bituminous emulsion.
What is SBS and what is APP? SBS asphalt pavements are elastomeric asphalt pavements whose durability and quality are defined based on their polyester reinforcement (gr/m 2 ) and their temperature change. APP asphalt pavements are plastic asphalt pavements that were used in the past and are of lower strength and quality.
In what weights (thicknesses) are asphalt pavements distinguished? The weights we find are mainly 4kg/m 2 , 4.5kg/m 2 , 5kg/m 2 , 6kg/m 2 . This is how the bituminous mass containing an asphalt layer is described.
With what coatings do we meet them? The final coating can be either mosaic (white, gray, black, tile, green, etc.), or aluminum or even without a final coating (in the case of a double coating of asphalt).
Therefore, depending on the needs and the financial possibility, a proposal is made by the engineer as to which solution is most suitable for the given problem.
- I had tarmac but I have moisture, why?
First of all, asphalt pavements, like any building material, have a finite lifespan depending on their quality, infrastructure and, of course, their correct application. The lifetime of a high-quality tarmac can exceed 20 years. Some of the reasons an asphalt pavement can fail are:
- Its incorrect application by a non-specialized workshop or the engineer’s lack of knowledge of the specifics of the problem, as waterproofing work is a specialized subject that requires in addition to knowledge and great experience.
- The selection of inappropriate or non-certified materials.
- The wrong choice of waterproofing method due to the substrate. As a result, detachments or deformations of the sealing membrane can be observed.
- The insufficient coating of bituminous emulsion (primer) for its proper welding.
- The lack of ventilation (where required) resulting in insufficient air circulation in the asphalt substrate.
- The details in critical points, e.g. gutters, edges, railings, etc.
It is important, therefore, to frequently monitor the sealed surface if possible, as well as to visit an engineer in the event that failures or traces of moisture are found.
- When can I use spreadable sealants?
Spreadable sealants are divided into acrylic and polyurethane (PU). Like any material, this also requires special treatment in order to achieve the appropriate thickness, its correct adhesion and the necessary coverage of all surfaces that need sealing. The choice of their use should also be made by a qualified engineer as each case needs a different treatment. At this point, it should be emphasized that their use should be done on smooth surfaces, with a sufficient slope for the drainage of water and proper preparation of the substrate.
- How much does it cost to waterproof a surface?
Usually the price offered for the implementation of a waterproofing work is offered by the square meter (m 2 ) and is accompanied by the technical description of the work to be carried out. Therefore, depending on the quality of the asphalt sheet and the particularities of the project, the final price is determined after the visit of an engineer for the autopsy and measurement of the surface to be sealed.
- When is the best time for waterproofing?
The period when waterproofing is done ranges from spring to late autumn with some exceptions in winter if conditions allow. Factors that affect the application of a seal are:
- Rain or snow
- High humidity
- Very low temperatures
- Strong wind
- What is the warranty about?
The guarantee concerns the correct application and the restoration of any damage due to material failure for the period of time offered by each company. It is very important, therefore, not the years of the guarantee, but who gives the guarantee and how many years they have been active in the field of insulation.
